Natasha Shneider Dies of Cancer
Natasha Shneider, best known as vocalist and keyboardist for the band Eleven and back up musician for artists such as Queens of the Stone Age and Chris Cornell, has died yesterday as a result of cancer.
On July 2 Troy Van Leeuwen, a former band mate and close personal friend of Scheider, posted an entry on the myspace page for his band Sweethead;
“Natasha Shneider, musician extraordinaire, former actress, singer of the ground-breaking band ELEVEN, and one-time QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE keyboard player, died today at 11:11am of cancer. She was a brilliant, beautiful, and ballsy woman who will be missed deeply by all those who knew her and who knew her work. Send your loving thoughts her way in the universe.”

Personally, I really enjoyed Eleven’s music and was pleasantly surprised to discover that she and husband/Eleven bandmate Alain Johannes were involved with two other of my favourite albums, Euphoria Morning and Lullabies to Paralyze, but am very disappointed to hear of her sudden passing.
Hopefully some of her talented friends band together to make some wonderful music in tribute to Natasha, so at least some joy will come out of the music worlds loss.
