No Huey Lewis – Just the News!
Got your thinking caps on?
You’ll need a finely tuned ear to listen to the snippets of sound and work out who is playing Good Vibrations ’09. Visit the festival’s site and try and guess who is coming. There are eleven sound clips with accompanying pictures wich could either be visual clues or deceptive red herrings.
One kinda sounds like Fat Boy Slim, beyond that – I’m stumped!
A good little innovation to spark some online scuttlebutt around forums and such.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s Super Bruce (in a plane actually)!
When a UK holiday company went bust recently, it left a whole heap of pommy tourists stranded to scorch in the Grecian sun. Iron Maiden front man and licensed commercial pilot, Bruce Dickinson, yes – the Bruce Dickinson, took it upon himself to fly Maiden’s own personal Boeing 747 down to Greece to give them all a ride home.
Nice one Bruce! Could you imagine fellow metal god, Ozzy Ozbourne doing that?
“Ah yeah, um, like this is your f*ckin’ Captain speaking, and today yeah, um like we’ll be going to, um… Sharon! Where the f*ck we goin’ luv?
MGMT + CMCL BRS = Holy electro orgasm Batman!
Thats right dance fans. New kids on the electro-dance block MGMT are teaming up with electro-dance veterans, the Chemical Brothers for their new album. While its not due out for some time, MGMT are trying to avoid the ‘sophomore slump’ by consulting the old heads and attempting to create a different sound.
This could potentially be either the greatest thing to happen to dance music since the death of rave parties, or the worlds biggest hyped disaster. My money is on the former!
Just Kill Me Now.
Everyones favourite pseudo-Brits, Las Vegas’ The Killers, have a new album set to descend November 25 this year. Titled ‘Day & Age,’ the bands third official album is being produced by remix master Stuart Price.
Just take a look at the list of artists Stu has remixed over the years under his pseudonyms, Les Rythmes Digitale, The Thin White Duke and Jacques Lu Cont: Armand Van Helden , Beck, Britney Spears, Cassius, Chromeo, Coldplay, Cornershop, Depeche Mode, Electric Six, Felix da Housecat, Fischerspooner, Gerling, Goldfrapp, Gwen Stefani, Justice, Kasabian, Missy Elliott, The Music, New Order, No Doubt, Placebo, Röyksopp, Scissor Sisters, Seal, Starsailor, and Texas – to name a few!
However, Price was also responsible for co-writing all bar three of Madonna’s songs from 2005’s ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor,’ so I’m not sure what to make of The Killers new stuff just yet!
